This process makes the powder coating both reversible and reusable. Thermoplastic coatings tend to be thicker, and hence more durable compared to thermoset coatings.
Webb14 apr. 2024 · A new 100% bio-based thermosetting coating system was developed from epoxidized sucrose soyate crosslinked with blocked bio-based dicarboxylic acids. A solvent-free, green method was used to block the carboxylic acid groups and render the acids miscible with the epoxy resin. Formed by the condensation reaction of a diamine with maleic anhydride, and processed basically like epoxy resins (350 °F (177 °C) cure). After an elevated post-cure (450 °F (232 °C)), they will exhibit superior properties. These properties are influenced by a 400-450 °F (204-232 °C) continuous use temperature and a glass transition of 500 °F (260 °C).
Webb9 sep. 2007 · The epoxidized oxazoline and the modified acrylic were evaluated in thermoset coatings over metal panels. The properties of the films ranged from moderate to good depending on what species was used as a crosslinker. Introduction Webb3 juli 2024 · For thermosetting polymer systems, there are typically two different types of polymer with each containing a functional group that is reactive with a functional group on the other polymer type. For example, a polyisocyanate and a polyol. In calculating the number of bridges between polymer chains, each reactive group contributes ½ of a bridge.
