WebFeb 2, 2024 · One unique Truth artifact can be found in Quaker Park. It was once the site of a meeting house for the Society of Friends. Sojourner Truth sang at the opening of the building and her footsteps were preserved. You can find them in the park, with a plaque that says: “Stand in my footprints. Follow my vision. Sojourner Truth 1797-1997.” WebSojourner Truth died at her home in Battle Creek on November 26, 1883, surrounded by family and friends. It was reported that her funeral service was attended by 1000 people. In 1886, a friend asked the public for donations to erect a marker at Truth’s grave. The marker deteriorated over time and was replaced several times.
