Scroll down till you see [Engine.Console]. Underneath that, add ConsoleKey=Tilde. Save and close the notepad. Then open the game, and press the tilde (~) to open the console. In the console, put viewmode unlit. This will fix the black pixel problem with the characters, but the lighting will be brighter.
